So this completely diverts from my previous post, but this is seriously one of the funniest tax story i've ever heard this whole season (please note i'm an accountant, and we get amused very easily... also, i do consider myself a horrible person for finding this story amusing, and it may be a ? mark (aka Angela) story but i'll throw it out there). So my co-worker turns to me yesterday, and he told me this story about what happened to one of his clients when he asked his supervisor whether his client was going to fill out an electronic organizer (an info sheet for us to prepare his taxes). His supervisor tells him this: the client turned up at a tax consultation crying because his wife left him so that's why he didn't fill out an organizer. And then my co-worker shows me a paper version of his info sheet... there were two columns: taxpayer and spouse and "spouse" was crossed off.... so notes to self, do not get someone to do your taxes right after a divorce or else you may have random strangers talking about you.
