What comes around goes around...

Thinking about society these days, we strive to do things faster, more efficiently and we hate having to go around in circles to find the answer. So when it comes to things which do not relate to common everyday tasks such as emotions and attachments, do we try to hang onto what "feels" right instead of taking the steps to find something else? If we believe the story will end a certain way, have we missed the boat because of convenience?
